Making Bulletin out of satin ribbon

Satin ribbon is an ideal fabric to be used in hand-made crafts focused projects. Making wall art with wooden letters, bulletin board, and flip flop are among few of those home accessories, crafted and designed using satin ribbon. It also gives a perfect finish to the project by adding proper style to it.

Making bulletin board with the help of satin ribbon:

You would need five items to decorate and make a home-made bulletin board. Here are five items you need to buy for this project:

  • Satin ribbon
  • Batting
  • Organza ribbon for making small bows
  • Glue or staple gun
  • Wooden board

Step one: First off, cut down the board in any size as per your preference and choice. The length and width of the board would be certainly what you want; make it rectangular or square whatever makes you feel comfortable with the size. Make sure to cut it properly from the edges. If you have difficulty in doing so while keeping the board in a shape you can use scale and draw four lines of equal length around four sides of the wood with lead pencil. Doing so will help you cut in better in the shape without messing up edges by over-cutting them.

Step two: The second step would be cutting satin fabrics. Take three-four inches of it (measuring the size of your wooden board), and make its length accordingly. Place the satin ribbon face down under the batting fabric and make necessary adjustment to remove plaits or any irregularity on the board. They should like a smooth sheet on the board.

Step three: Roll the satin ribbon fabric and the batting fabric together and fold them to the edges. From edges you need to attach the sheet of both at the back of board. For attaching the fabric to the wood you can use duct tape or stable whichever comes handy to you.

Step four: when your bulletin board is ready and looks like a real one. You can decorate it further using small beautiful bows made with organza ribbon. You can use different color according to the base color of sheet. Or can make contrast of it by creating your own style in two opposite colors.

To enhance the outlook of bulletin board you can paint the edges if you haven’t covered them with the fabric. It is up to you to cover the satin ribbon over the edges. In case you have not wrapped them with batting or anything, you would like to paint the sides with any good paint and make a design to add a touch of elegancy to your project
